Armenian provocation in Tovuz region of the Republic of Azerbaijan

The Armenian armed forces grossly violated the ceasefire regime and fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of the Tovuz region of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border using artillery devices. As a result of retaliatory fire and counter-attack measures of the Azerbaijani armed forces, the attack attempt of the Armenian armed forces was prevented.

During the conflict, 4 soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army were martyred and 5 people were injured. On behalf of our company, we pray for God's mercy to our brave soldiers who lost their lives in the conflict and reached the peak of martyrdom, we bow to their dear memories and express our deepest condolences to their families. Good luck.

The attack by Armenia on the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces using artillery installations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is aggression, an act of using force and another provocation. In order to prevent provocations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and to eliminate situations that could cause tension, Azerbaijan has deployed units of the State Border Service along a large part of the state border along Gazakh and Tovuz regions. In contrast, the militarization of the state border of the two countries and the deliberate targeting of civilians by Armenia continue systematically. Through such a military adventure, Armenia is trying to involve the military and political organizations it is a member of in the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, to evade responsibility for the invasion and aggression it has committed against Azerbaijan.

Armenia's 30-year-long aggression against Azerbaijan and provocations on the border are contrary to the legal documents of the military-political organization of which Armenia is a member.

Armenia grossly violated the UN Charter and other international legal obligations and invaded Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions of Azerbaijan by military aggression against Azerbaijan. Resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 of the UN Security Council demand the full and unconditional withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. The provocation committed by Armenia on the border is another proof that Yerevan is not interested in resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict through negotiations.
